2018 – a year in Glu Recruit!

As another year draws to a close, it gives us time to reflect on what a fantastic year 2018 has been for us here at Glu HQ. From celebrations and record months, to new services and awards ceremonies, 2018 really has had it all, ad we’d like to share some of this with you in our final blog of the year!

So why was 2018 so eventful?

2018 marked our second year in business, and we celebrated this in style with our charity quiz night, raising over £1,000 for our charity of the year Action for Children. A charity very close to our MD Rob’s heart, we were thrilled to raise such a great amount for a very worthy cause. As for the event itself, it gave us a fantastic opportunity to say thanks to some of our super clients – we wouldn’t be here without them!

We really feel like we have grown as a team as well this year, not just in staff numbers (we are now a team of 5) but also in ourselves, our understanding of what makes a successful recruitment agency and most importantly how we value each and every one of our fantastic clients and candidates. Our larger team is now even further equipped to build on our existing client partnerships as well as develop new ones in 2019.

We want to challenge the norm and our aim is to break the mould of the traditional recruitment business and offer a personal, tailored and long term solution, offering a fresh approach to what can be seen as a very stereotypical industry.

A year of firsts

2018 has also been a year of firsts for Glu. In October we were shortlisted as a finalist for the Most Promising New Business Award’ at the Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce annual business awards. We were extremely proud to be sharing the stage with so many other fantastic businesses in the Sheffield City Region and to be shortlisted was an honour in itself. We took the opportunity to entertain our staff and clients and were definitely the party starters once the formalities had finished!

This inspired us to create our own awards, so in November 2018 we launched the Glu Recruit Office Heroes Awards! Whilst most awards ceremonies concentrate on job titles and turnover figures, we wanted to shine the spotlight on the region’s unsung heroes – the morale boosters, time savers, cost cutters, and all round good eggs that businesses just can’t do without.

We had so many fantastic entries and it was such a shame we couldn’t announce them all as winners. But of course, the purpose of an awards ceremony is to crown a champion, and our Office Hero Award 2018 was very deservedly won by Jo Reid of the South Yorkshire Community Foundation. What’s new at Glu?

Despite all of the above, recruitment is not all about wining and dining, we do have lots of work to do as well, and one of our philosophies is to play hard you have to work hard!

2018 marked the launch of our Temporary recruitment service. Whilst lots of recruiters focus on permanent solutions for their clients, at Glu we also offer contract and temporary candidates. Many businesses rely on the flexibility of their staff, and we have found this is a vital area of growth for both our clients and ourselves. A year in numbers

No yearly round up would be complete without some stats! Here are some stats we’re proud of in 2018:

  • 150 candidates placed in their dream job
  • 122 client partnerships
  • 90% of vacancies have been taken to placement
  • 2 interviews arranged per placement
  • 48 hours – average CV turnaround from instruction
  • 5 days – average time from instruction to placement
  • 97% candidate retention
  • 100% client satisfaction!

Not to mention the record months and record year we have had in 2018!

What’s coming in 2019

As we’re an ambitious bunch here at Glu, we want to make 2019 bigger and better than 2018! We listen and understand our client’s recruitment requirements, and we’re honing our service offering to add as much value as we possibly can.

We’re on a mission to improve employee retention across the region, and our clients can now benefit from our consultancy services in this area. We understand the importance of the stick with our placements (well we wouldn’t be called ‘Glu’ if we didn’t!) and are firm believers that employee motivation and retention go hand in hand and are critical to business success.

Christmas opening hours

All that is left now is to wish all our fantastic clients, candidates and contacts a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Glu office will close at 1pm on Friday 21st December 2018, and re-open at 9am on Wednesday 2nd January 2019.
