Following on from our last blog, where we discussed the impending doom of the 9 to 5 workday, comes a further development in office trends.
PwC, which employs 236,000 people, has just announced that it will give new employees the opportunity to pick their working hours.
The Big Four accountant said it wants to attract skilled professionals who don’t want to be tied to a traditional 9 to 5 job. This is with its newly launched Flexible Talent Network.
The network allows new recruits to list their preferences and ideal work pattern. This has already had more than 2000 registrations since its launch two weeks ago.
The move comes after PwC carried out a study which revealed that flexible working hours and a good work-life balance were top of the agenda for job seekers.
Rob Shaw, Managing Director at Glu Recruit said: “This move by PwC proves that it’s not just smaller firms making the move to flexible working.
“Office culture is changing, and workplaces should be adopting initiatives that both cater to, and attract employees.
“Flexible working is not just a benefit for employees though. It can boost productivity, and cultivate loyalty- giving companies who adopt this approach a competitive advantage.
“I think we’ll start to see more businesses following in PwC’s footsteps.”
