Here’s how to send your CV to us, using your mobile phone

Upload your CV

Everything is pretty much done on our mobile phones these days and laptop and computer are words only used in the office.

We’re not at all shocked, our mobile phones can pretty much do everything. We can pay for shopping, stream films and even scan airplanes in the sky to see where they’re going.

When it comes to job hunting, chances are you need to send recruiters or employers your CV.

If you’re not very computer savvy, or you’re applying for jobs while you’re out and about, you’ll be pleased to know that your mobile can take care of everything.

You can scan your printed CV in, download it and save it to your files and then email it to whoever wants to read all about you.

We’ve put together this handy little guide to make things a little easier for you.

Scan your CV using your mobile

iPhone users

If you’re an iPhone user, scanning in a document is easy peasy. If you’ve got your CV printed out, you can scan it using your mobile’s camera and fire it over via email.

  • Open up your Notes app and select the + to create a new one.
  • Tap the Camera button and then select Scan Documents.
  • Place your CV in view of your camera, making sure the whole thing is within the frame. We’d recommend doing it on a plain background.
  • Your iPhone may automatically scan your CV in, if not, tap the Shutter button.
  • Select Keep Scan.

Your CV will now appear as a scanned document and emailing it is simple.

  • Tap on your scanned CV.
  • Select the box with the arrow facing upwards.
  • When the pop up appears, click mail and send it to the desired address.

And, voila! We told you it was easy.

Android users

If you favour Android over iPhone, a debate for another day, you can also use your mobile phone to scan your CV in.

  • Open the Google Drive app.
  • Tap Add in the bottom right corner.
  • Tap Scan.
  • Take a photo of your CV.
  • Tap Done to save it to your mobile.

When you have successfully scanned in your CV, you can email it over.

  • Click the three connected dots to export your CV.
  • Select your preferred email account from the pop up.
  • Type in your recipients address in the ‘To’ section of your email.

Download your CV to your mobile

If your CV is online, you can download it to your mobile phone’s files and email from there.

  • Open your web browser and head to where your CV is located.
  • Open your CV and again select the box with the upwards arrow.
  • Choose Save to Files.
  • Choose the location you wish to save your CV, you can create a new folder if needed.

Your CV will then be saved to your iPhone files indefinitely and you can access it whenever you need it by heading to the Files app.

To share this via email, click the box with the upwards arrow and select mail.

  • Open your web browser and head to where your CV is located.
  • Open your CV and long-press on it.
  • Tap Download.

Like on iPhone, your CV will be located in the Files app of your Android but emailing from your Android files is a little different.

  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  • Tap Compose.
  • Tap Attach.
  • Tap Insert from Drive.
  • Tap the file you want to add.
  • Tap Select.
  • Tap Send.
