February’s networking adventures

February’s networking adventures

If there’s one thing we love at Glu Recruit, it’s a good networking event! February was a jam-packed month for us, as we attended some fantastic events to connect, collaborate, and, of course, have a good old catch up with the incredible people in our region!

We kicked off our networking tour by getting stuck into the world of construction at the Meet the Buyers Construction Expo – organised by Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber.

For us, this was an eye-opener into the talent demands within construction and how we can help businesses find the right people for the job. Plus, it made our Marketing Manager very happy after winning a bottle of Bombay Saphire!

We also visited the Doncaster Business Showcase, hosted by The Doncaster Chamber. This was our first time visiting the event and the atmosphere was incredible!

The room was packed full of exhibitors and visitors from across South Yorkshire and beyond – the perfect place to meet new faces and catch up with old connections.

Finally, we headed to the stunning Wentworth Woodhouse (which is stunning at the best of times), for ESH Construction’s What does social value mean to Rotherham? event.

We love all things Rotherham and this was a great opportunity to hear about all the wonderful things that businesses are doing for the area.

Networking can sometimes push you out of your comfort zone, but the benefits are huge. Whether you’re looking for new clients, partnerships, or just a bit of inspiration from the people who ‘get it,’ there’s something powerful about getting in a room full of professionals who all want to grow and support each other.

Why networking matters

So, what did we take away from our February networking adventures? A whole lot!

  • Opportunities arise when you least expect them – You never know who you’re going to meet or what conversations will lead to exciting collaborations.
  • It keeps you in the loop – Industries evolve, challenges change, and networking helps you stay ahead of the game.
  • People buy from people – Business is built on relationships, and there’s nothing quite like a face-to-face chat to build trust and rapport.
  • It’s just good fun! – Yes, networking is about business, but it’s also about meeting great people, learning new things, and just enjoying yourself along the way.

If you spotted us at any of these events, drop us a message – we’d love to keep the conversation going. And if you’re thinking about heading to a networking event but aren’t sure where to start, our advice? Just go for it! You never know what doors it might open.
