Glu Recruit’s virtual bike ride has raised over £800 for The Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust

Glu Recruit have completed their 170-mile virtual bike ride in support of The Master Cutler’s Challenge.

This year’s challenge is raising money for The Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, a charity that provides community and educational programmes and delivers training in dedicated skills such as entrepreneurship, conservation, heritage, digital and hospitality.

The Trust supports a wide range of people and communities, including ethnic and minority interests and disability groups to help enrich their lives with cultural activities.

Glu Recruit have already pledged to donate 1% of all permanent recruitment fees to Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust.

Their 170-mile virtual journey began at Wentworth Woodhouse, Rotherham on Monday 15th May. After five days of cycling, the team reached Buckingham Palace.

Glu Recruit took to their social media channels to update their followers at various points throughout their journey, including East Midlands Airport, The Leicester Space Centre, Luton Town Football Club and London Zoo.

Despite fatigue and moments of hardship, their spirits remained high, fueled by the knowledge that their efforts would make a tangible difference.

As news of their trip spread, individuals and businesses came forward to offer support and encouragement, allowing them to raise over £800 for the cause.

Rob Shaw, Managing Director at Glu Recruit commented on their virtual cycle, “We’re always keen to support local charities and Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust do so much for the local community, which made the tired legs all worthwhile.

“It was incredible to see all of the Glu Recruit team getting stuck into the challenge, collecting sponsors and encouraging each other to keep pedaling.

“We set ourselves a target of £500 and to smash that after just a week is unbelievable. I’m very proud of the team and thrilled that we will have contributed to such a worthy cause.”

Dame Julie Kenny DBE, DL, Master Cutler, also commented on the virtual cycle, “I would personally like to say a huge thank you to all the Glu Recruit team for successfully completing your virtual bike ride, from Wentworth Woodhouse to Buckingham Palace, you made a hard task look really good fun.
