The 4th anniversary of Glu Recruit and our charity of the year announcement!
Many of you that know us well at Glu, will know that we like to celebrate our birthday in style with a big gathering with all our wonderful clients and contacts. This year we’re having to reign in the celebrations to adhere to social distancing, meaning our annual charity quiz night is taking a back step this time. However, we still want to mark the occasion in style and announce our charity of the year (or charities as it is this time), so this year we’re focused on celebrating our wonderful staff at Glu Recruit!
For the past 13 weeks, like everyone else, we have been on lock-down. Working from home has become the norm, along with communicating with each other via video calls, but today also marks another very special occasion – our return to the office!
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure our office is compliant with government social distancing rules, and today we are celebrating our birthday by welcoming everyone back into the office! We’ve missed everyone immensely and are so glad to start getting back to some form of normality with our work family.
So, on to our big charity announcement…
This year we have decided to support two charities that are close to the hearts of the Glu team, so without further delay we would like to announce that we will be supporting Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospital and Paces Sheffield over the next 12 months!
We’ve become close friends with the team at Bluebell Wood since Matthew Sheridan won our Office Heroes Awards in 2019, so it’s great that we can start supporting this wonderful charity in 2020. Likewise with the team at Paces, who are also great friends to the Glu team, we’re thrilled to be supporting another local charity that is doing so much good work in the community.
Rob Shaw, MD at Glu Recruit comments: “We like to use our birthday each year to announce our support for a charity close to our hearts, to ensure we are giving something back to the community and doing our bit. Staff involvement is key and we always ask our team if they have any particular charities they would like to support as the closer we are to our charities the better the relationship is, as well as having more drive to fundraise for them.
“This has resulted in us nominating two charities this year. A lot of the team have children and after getting to know the team at Bluebell Wood recently we all understand the great work they do in the Hospice in what must be such an emotional place to work. We were also keen to support Paces, who support adults and children who have neurological conditions, including one of the children of a member of our team. Both charities are personal to Glu and we can’t wait to start working as a team to help support them.
“We’ve been busy thinking of ways in which we can offer our support and help raise some vital funds for these charities, and we’ll be making a key announcement on our first fundraiser next week!
Rob adds about Glu Recruit’s 4th birthday: “We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved in four years of trading since the business was set up in 2016. Whilst the last three months have been difficult, it has brought us together more as a team despite not being able to work together physically in the office, and with the fantastic support we’ve had from our clients as well during lock-down we’re really looking forward to continuing to work together with everyone in the future. This is definitely a birthday we won’t forget!”
