Role: Sliding Head Machine Programmer/ Setter/ Operator Technician 

Salary: up to £14 per hour

Location: Sheffield

Hours: 37 Hours per week Monday- Friday

Our client are a group of manufacturing and engineering businesses that have been trading for over 40 year.

The role:

The duties listed below are not listed in any order of priority or importance and are not intended to restrict or prioritise the activities of the working day:


  • Work in line with company procedures and machine capability to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Effectively document key elements of the set up process to assist with any future set activity.
  • All associated tools and equipment are to be kept in a clean and tidy manner. Immediate work area housekeeping standards to be maintained to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that all company Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times and that actions or inaction does not have a detrimental effect on the Health, Safety or wellbeing of co-workers or other company employees.
  • To constantly challenge the norm to help drive forward continual improvements in products, processes and cost control
  • To have a positive and flexible approach to working; all within the constraints of ethical trading & good engineering practice.
  • To  program, set & operate CNC Sliding Head machines efficiently in line with the production plan, producing precision components to drawing and customer specification.
  • Program, set and operate CNC Sliding Head machines, ensuring quality workmanship at all times.


The successful candidate:

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in working with CNC sliding head machines in programming, setting and operating capacities.
  • Previous experience of both Star & Citizen machinery would be advantageous.
  • The ability to create and modify programs from engineering.
  • Ability to set and operate more than one machine as and when required.
  • To be motivated with a “can do” attitude.
