Role: Civils Estimator

Salary: Up To £60,000 Per Annum DOE

Location: Barnsley

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Civils Estimator to join our Client’s growing team. This role is critical in supporting our commercial function and will significantly contribute to securing new business opportunities, particularly within the Reinforced Concrete (RC) sector. You’ll join a supportive and collaborative environment with excellent opportunities for career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating: Accurately prepare cost estimates for Reinforced Concrete projects and associated civil works.
  • Reading Design Drawings: Interpret and analyse civil engineering drawings to extract project requirements.
  • Material Take-Offs & Tender Summaries: Perform precise material take-offs and develop tender documentation.
  • Supplier Quotations: Source competitive quotations and negotiate favourable terms with suppliers.
  • Quotation Preparation: Deliver timely, detailed, and comprehensive quotations for client consideration.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate directly with clients regarding tenders, queries, and clarifications.
  • Cost Analysis: Prepare detailed cost analyses for internal use.
  • Client Meetings & Site Visits: Attend client meetings (on sites and on Teams) and conduct occasional site visits as required.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with design, commercial, and operational teams to ensure project success.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in estimating Reinforced Concrete structures, ideally with exposure to RC projects and civils works.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong telephone and customer service abilities.
  • Highly logical and analytical, with effective problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive self-starter who can work independently and takes initiative.

Preferred Skills

  • Background in the construction or civil engineering sector.
  • Experience in sales coordination or similar commercial roles.
