The role:
Our client is recruiting for an experienced CNC 5-Axis Programmer to join their growing precision engineering team. This is a hands-on role programming, setting and optimising complex, tight-tolerance components using Matsuura 5-axis milling machines with Fanuc controls, supporting high-quality manufacturing for the medical and aerospace industries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create, edit and optimise CNC programmes for 3, 4 and 5-axis machines.
• Programme and operate Matsuura 5-axis milling machines using Fanuc controls.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications.
• Set, operate and prove out new programmes before production.
• Select appropriate tooling, workholding and machining strategies.
• Manufacture complex components to tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Complete first-off inspections and work closely with Quality teams.
• Improve cycle times, machining processes and overall efficiency.
• Maintain machine performance and support routine maintenance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across the machining operation.

The successful candidate:

• Proven experience as a CNC 5-Axis Programmer within precision engineering.
• Strong Fanuc controls experience, including 5-axis programming, is essential.
• Experience programming and operating 3, 4 and 5-axis machinery.
• Strong understanding of tooling, fixturing, feeds, speeds and machining best practice.
• Ability to confidently interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience producing complex, tight-tolerance components.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Proactive approach to improving machining efficiency and processes.

Desirable:

• Previous experience within medical, aerospace or another highly regulated precision engineering environment.
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 quality standards.
• Previous experience operating Matsuura CNC machinery.
