Role: Compliance Manager

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £50,000-£55,000 per annum depending on experience

Hours/working pattern: 9am-5pm/office based/hybrid option available. Our client is open to candidates that may want part time hours, or flexibility on their core hours.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Compliance Manager to oversee our client’s compliance framework and lead a team of four administrators. This role combines regulatory compliance responsibilities with team leadership, ensuring that operations adhere to FCA industry standards while maintaining efficient administrative processes.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Oversight:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures in line with FCA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular file reviews and audits to ensure the quality and compliance of client documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support to paraplanners and advisers on compliance matters, including suitability of advice and documentation standards.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely updates to internal policies and procedures.
  • Manage the firm’s response to compliance breaches, including investigation, reporting, and remediation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four administrators, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily administrative operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve client service delivery.​

Training and Development:

  • Design and deliver compliance training programs for staff to promote awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to inform training content and delivery methods.​

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

The suitable candidate:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry, preferably in a financial advisory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, including the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) and Consumer Duty.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.​

Desirable:

  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS) or compliance-specific certifications.
  • Experience in training design and delivery.
  • Familiarity with compliance monitoring tools and systems.​
