Role: Drainage Assistant (Day Shift) – Wakefield

Salary: £28,000 – £31,500

Location: Wakefield (Leeds Depot)

Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off rota (day shifts) – 48 hours across 4 days

An established and growing provider of specialist waste, industrial cleaning, and drainage services is seeking a Drainage Assistant to join their team. Operating nationwide, the organisation delivers efficient and sustainable solutions to support critical infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build or develop a career within the drainage or utilities sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate specialist drainage equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Liaise with customers on-site, providing updates and handling queries
  • Assist in identifying and resolving drainage issues such as blockages and defects
  • Use high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean drainage systems
  • Support the removal and disposal of waste materials
  • Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment
  • Work alongside CCTV teams to inspect and assess drainage systems
  • Respond to emergency callouts, including flooding and urgent issues
  • Complete job documentation including job sheets and risk assessments

The Successful Candidate:

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
  • CSCS card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Interest in drainage, waste management, or utilities sectors
  • Practical and hands-on approach, comfortable working outdoors
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Basic IT skills and willingness to learn new systems

Desirable:

  • CSCS Card
  • High Pressure Water Jetting Card
  • Confined Space Training (Medium or High)
