Role: Drainage Assistant (Night Shift) – Wakefield

Salary: £34,000 – £37,000 Per Annum

Location: Wakefield (Leeds Depot)

Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off rota (night shifts) – 48 hours across 4 days

An established and growing provider of specialist waste, industrial cleaning, and drainage services is looking to recruit a Drainage Assistant to join their team. Operating nationwide, the business delivers safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions to maintain essential infrastructure. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in drainage or utilities, or a strong interest in developing within the sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate specialist drainage equipment safely and effectively
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Liaise professionally with customers on-site, providing updates and resolving queries
• Support in diagnosing and resolving drainage issues including blockages and defects
• Use high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean drains and pipework
• Assist with removal and disposal of waste materials
• Carry out basic checks and maintenance on vehicles and equipment
• Work alongside CCTV teams to inspect and assess drainage systems
• Respond to emergency callouts such as flooding and urgent drainage issues
• Complete relevant documentation including job sheets and risk assessments

The Successful Candidate:

Essential:

• Previous experience within drainage, sewerage, or utilities
• Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• CSCS card (or willingness to obtain)
• Interest in drainage, waste, or utilities sectors
• Practical and hands-on approach, comfortable working outdoors
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Basic IT skills and willingness to learn new systems

• High Pressure Water Jetting Card
• Confined Space Training (Medium or High)
