Role: Finance Manager

Salary: Up to £50,000 Per Annum DOE

Located: Sheffield

Hours: Monday to Friday

We’re seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our Client’s team at a prominent UK-based manufacturing company. This key role will be responsible for managing daily financial operations, delivering strategic financial insight, and upholding robust financial management practices across the organisation. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience within the manufacturing industry, strong analytical capabilities, and in-depth knowledge of UK financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.

The Role:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, KPIs, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure financial reporting is delivered on time and in compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Present insightful financial reports and analysis to senior leadership.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and manage quarterly reforecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget, highlighting key variances and trends.
  • Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support operational decision-making.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

  • Analyse manufacturing costs, overheads, and gross margins to drive profitability.
  • Partner with operational teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee stock valuation processes and contribute to effective inventory management.

Cash Flow & Treasury

  • Manage daily cash flow and develop accurate cash forecasting models.
  • Maintain strong banking relationships and optimise working capital strategies.
  • Ensure effective credit control and manage debtor performance.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC requirements including VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax.
  • Coordinate year-end processes and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Strengthen internal controls and continuously enhance financial policies and procedures.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team.
  • Champion continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development.

Skills & Experience

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified, or QBE with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar finance role, ideally within manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC compliance regulations.
  • Proficient in Excel with hands-on experience using ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, SAP, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with non-finance teams, including production and operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cost accounting and/or lean manufacturing principles (desirable).
  • Understanding of import/export processes and international trade finance (desirable).
  • Proven experience managing capital expenditure projects and conducting investment appraisals (desirable).
