Role: Flood Risk & Modelling Advisor

Salary: £43,929 – £48,456 DOE

Location: Louth, Lincolnshire

Working Hours: 74 hours over a 9-day fortnight (every other Friday off)

Glu Recruit are recruiting for a Flood Risk & Modelling Advisor to join a specialist organisation responsible for water level and flood risk management across a large geographical area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out hydrological and hydraulic modelling to assess flood risk and drainage management options.
  • Assist in preparing Outline Business Cases for grant funding applications.
  • Undertake technical assessments of existing flood defence assets and proposed improvement schemes.
  • Prepare project estimates and support project delivery.
  • Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and members of the public regarding flood risk management projects.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys and monitor construction works.
  • Support the prioritisation of engineering projects and assist in securing external funding opportunities.
  • Produce accurate technical reports and modelling outputs.

The Successful Candidate:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline with hydrology or hydraulic modelling content.
  • Experience in flood risk modelling and water level management.
  • Experience using one or more of the following software packages: HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks ICM or MIKE Flood.
  • Strong data analysis and mapping skills, including GIS, LIDAR, hydrological data, Excel and AutoCAD.
  • Experience building and validating hydraulic models.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical report writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Positive, proactive approach with excellent communication and team working skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • GCSE Mathematics (Grade 5/C or above) or equivalent is essential. A numerical A Level (or equivalent) is desirable.
