Role: Legal Assistant

Salary: £24,000-£26,000 per annum depending on experience

We have an excellent opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our clients Clinical Negligence department on a part time basis (ideally 4 days).

Our client is a multi-accredited firm, which has been established in Sheffield for more than 200 years. As one of the leading practices in the region, the firm has built an enviable reputation for forging successful professional relationships and providing exceptional client care.

The role:

The job holder will provide integral administrative support to the Head of Department and fee earners within the Clinical Negligence team.

Responsibilities will include producing high quality and timely correspondence, responding to telephone calls and email enquiries, completing forms and preparing Court documents and electronic bundles, undertaking audio and copy typing of letters and documents, undertaking diary management tasks, dealing with file opening processes and invoicing and billing procedures.

The role also encompasses responsibility for preparing files for audits, coordination of Legal Aid applications and tenders therefore an understanding of Legal Aid procedures in relation to Clinical Negligence procedures or a detailed knowledge of the funding of such matters would be a distinct advantage.

The suitable candidate:

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with secretarial and administrative experience to propel their career in an exciting direction, with sole responsibility for key procedures within the team and the autonomy available to make the role their own.

Candidates must have experience in working in a similar role, ideally within Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury or some form of litigation. In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a confident and pro-active approach, and the ability to apply a high level of attention to detail in their work.

Experience of or ability to administer and progress cases using an electronic Case management System is essential.
