Role: Production Manager – CNC Precision Engineering

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum DOE

Location: Rotherham

Hours: Full-time

The role:

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Production Manager to lead the day-to-day performance of their CNC precision engineering operation. This is a key leadership role within a growing advanced manufacturing business, with responsibility for people, production planning, quality, efficiency and on-time delivery across a highly skilled CNC manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day CNC production operation.
• Manage, motivate and develop CNC machinists, programmers, setters and operators.
• Plan production schedules, workloads, machine capacity and resources.
• Ensure customer orders are manufactured to specification and delivered on time.
• Monitor KPIs including output, efficiency, quality, scrap, rework, machine utilisation and delivery.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to productivity and throughput.
• Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, cycle times and workflows.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Commercial and Supply Chain teams.
• Investigate non-conformances and support root cause and corrective action processes.
• Promote a strong right-first-time culture across production.
• Manage staffing, holidays, overtime and training requirements.
• Lead daily production meetings and communicate priorities and performance.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and quality procedures.
• Support capacity planning, capital investment and future manufacturing requirements.

The successful candidate:

• Proven experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or similar within a CNC machining or precision engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of CNC milling and/or turning operations.
• Experience managing CNC machinists, programmers, setters and operators.
• Strong production planning, scheduling and capacity management experience.
• Experience working to demanding quality and delivery standards.
• Confident using manufacturing KPIs and data to improve performance.
• Proven continuous improvement and process optimisation experience.
• Experience managing quality issues, non-conformances and root cause investigations.
• Strong leadership and people-development skills.
• Commercially aware with an understanding of productivity, utilisation, downtime, scrap and rework.
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Hands-on management style with a strong shop-floor presence.

Desirable:

• Medical device and/or aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Experience within highly regulated or quality-critical environments.
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 and/or AS9100.
• Experience with 5-axis CNC machining, CNC turning or sliding-head machining.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM and CMM inspection processes.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
• Experience supporting machinery investment or manufacturing capacity expansion.
