The role:

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing specialist design, build and manufacturing business. Working across major civil engineering and construction projects, you will take commercial and contractual ownership from pre-construction through to final account, working closely with operational, technical and client teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of projects from award to final account.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts and cost plans.
• Monitor project costs, value, margins and profitability.
• Prepare valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage Early Warnings, Compensation Events, variations and additional works.
• Review contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, payments and final accounts.
• Ensure contractual notices and documentation are issued accurately and on time.
• Produce cost/value reconciliations and commercial reports.
• Attend client, progress and commercial meetings.
• Support tenders and cost estimates where required.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers.

The successful candidate:

• Proven Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering or construction.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, ideally including NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Experience managing projects commercially from commencement through to final account.
• Strong knowledge of valuations, variations and applications for payment.
• Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers.
• Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Confident communicating with clients, contractors and internal project teams.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
• Proactive, commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership of projects.

Desirable:

• Experience within water/wastewater, utilities, reinforced concrete, groundworks or structural engineering.
• Experience working with Tier 1 contractors.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
