Role: Warehouse Despatch Team Leader           

Hourly Rate: £9.50 per hour

Location: Thurrock

Hours: Mon-Fri 12:00pm to 21:00pm

Duration of assignment: Ongoing Temp to perm

Our client is one of the UK’s largest wholesalers offering a product range through exceptional customer service and efficient delivery.

Role:

To ensure orders are picked and accurately checked to adhere to van schedules.

To ensure stock locations are maintained with sufficient quantities of goods to enable the efficient

assembly of customer orders.

To control all aspects of Despatch alongside other departments within the

Warehouse to work effectively within budgets to achieve targets.

Task & Responsibilities:                                                     

  • Trains, motivates and organises all staff under his/her responsibility and maintains good working relationships
  • Ensures all Health & Safety aspects are maintained at all times
  • Ensures all operating practices are healthy, safe, legal, secure and efficient
  • Assists in interviewing new staff to his/her Department
  • Ensures that all new staff are made aware of all Health & Safety aspects expected by the Company at induction
  • Maintains staff discipline and is the first contact in the Company’s Grievance and Disciplinary procedures
  • Provides relevant data on his/her Department’s performance as requested by senior personnel
  • Arrange and supervise overtime in agreement with the Senior Supervisor and approves appropriate payment
  • Participates in any reasonable task requested by his/her Manager
  • Works within a rota with colleagues to maintain adequate opening and closing of the Depot to allow maximum service to the Chemists
  • Works within a rota with colleagues to maintain adequate supervision is available to allow Saturday morning service to the Chemists
  • Company key holding responsibilities to include opening, closing, necessary overtime and overnight call outs
  • Maintains security of Company stock and assets
  • Assists in weekly walk test of security and safety equipment
  • Ensures a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times
  • Works as an integral part of the Management Team to improve cost-effectiveness of the whole Depot operation.  Covering and assisting within Production, Goods Inwards and Stock Control
  • Establishes and maintains adequate records to enable the Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) report to be provided at least once annually.
  • Assists superiors in constantly reviewing the operating methods, layouts, and procedures to improve performance and reduce costs
  • Works closely with all supervisors to ensure that all objectives are achieved and maintained while retaining a good working relationship
  • Monitoring of all warehouse staff’s holidays and sickness patterns in accordance with what has been agreed.  Ensuring that there is always sufficient cover for the daily workload
  • Evaluating and monitoring warehouse staff performances via time study and reviews to achieve production errors down to a minimum and pick rates at a maximum.  All warehouse staff must have regular reviews on their performances good/bad.
  • Collates and maintains all information required for the production analysis
  • Evaluate the shorts and make the necessary investigations to identify the cause and persons responsible for the despatch of an incorrect order.  Maintains an on-going record against individuals indicating all relevant information.  Records to be presented to the Operations Manager for analysis
  • Assists Goods Inwards/Stock Controller in placing the correct product in the correct location to maximise efficiencies for picking
  • Ensure all warehouse staff are allocated to sections to fill shelves in production down time
  • Checks daily on the fridge and CD room to ensure shelves are tidy and stock is available for easy picking.  No stock can be left on the floor in either room
  • Ensure that all shelves are stocked, cleaned and maintained correctly by all staff
  • Maintains equipment that assists in despatch, i.e. trolleys, printer cartridges, pens etc
  • Ensures that the monthly consumable inventory is counted and ensures sufficient supplies are available at all times
  • Whilst carrying out stock taking staff must record any short dated stock items as well as clean shelves when removing stock to count.  Ensuring stock is replaced in a stock rotation manner
  • To regular checks to ensure no cellophane or outer packaging is left on the shelves any regular offenders must be monitored
  • Ensure all personnel files are managed and kept up to date with any developments with the individuals or the department
  • Carries out regular meetings with all the production team to ensure that communication between management and staff is kept informative and developed in a motivational way
  • Show a commitment to good housekeeping
  • SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed at all time
  • GDP (Good Distribution Practice) is followed at all time
  • To adhere to the Company’s Policy and Procedures at all times

The successful candidate:

Will need experience in a Warehouse managerial role
