Role: Warehouse Manager

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience

Location: Runcorn

Our client is one of the UK’s largest wholesalers offering a product range through exceptional customer service and efficient delivery. They are opening a new depot through business growth and customer demand in Runcorn and are looking for a Warehouse/Operations Manager to run and develop the site.

The role:

You will have a pivotal role within the largest sales & volume depot in the group which will encompass complete management of the warehouse function to include transport & drivers and overall people management. This role will provide first line management to a newly recruited warehouse/distribution team, and will be accountable to the General Manager.

Key Accountabilities of the role are:

⦁ Management of Goods In/Good Out & Drivers.
⦁ Continually improve operational efficiencies and workflow.
⦁ Plan out all warehouse resources and activities in keeping with the team focus and objectives.
⦁ Review and implementation of cost reduction methods where possible.
⦁ Completion of daily work logs to develop and support efficiency reports.
⦁ To provide analysis and reporting on inventory, manpower, logistics, consumables, variable cost, operational budgets, issue logs and resolutions.
⦁ To be responsible for Health and Safety Implementation and on-going responsibility.
⦁ To ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures within the Warehouse. (SOP’s)

Main purpose of the job:

⦁ To manage all aspects of order picking, order checking and stock replenishment.

⦁ To manage transport procedures.

⦁ To work efficiently within operational budgets and to achieve set targets.

⦁ To recommend and implement changes in order to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Main duties within the role:

To recruit, train motivate and organise all staff under your responsibility to ensure objectives are achieved and maintained whilst retaining good industrial relations.

To ensure all Company policies and disciplines as specified in the Company Staff Handbook are adhered to.

To assist senior colleagues in constantly reviewing the operating methods, layouts and procedures to improve performance and reduce costs.

To provide any documentation required for the monitoring of the departments under your direct responsibilities on time and in correct detail.

To ensure all records required by the Company and the Home Office in relation to Controlled Drugs are maintained clearly and accurately daily, monthly and annually.

To plan, approve and control all necessary overtime work to ensure journey deadlines are met whilst keeping within agreed budgets costs.

To co-ordinate staff and workload to meet hour to hour priorities at optimum costs.

To ensure maximum efficiency is given to customer service whilst maintaining optimum costs.

To monitor speed and accuracy of all Assemblers, Shelf-fillers, Checkers and Packers and works with individuals to improve performance.

To ensure journey deadlines are met and that all vans lease at their scheduled time.

To ensure all vans are serviced on time and maintained in a manner to present the correct Company image.

To ensure all procedures relating to despatch and transport are correctly adhered to.

To maintain staff discipline and be the first contact in the Company’s Grievance and Disciplinary procedures.

To ensure all new staff are made aware of all health and safety aspects expected by the Company at induction.

To ensure all operating practices are healthy, safe, legal, secure and efficient.

Maintains security of Company stock and assets.

To ensure picking shelves are maintained to a standard which will allow maximum picking proficiency with minimum stock damage.

To ensure correct rotation of stock within locations to enable stock with shortest life to be sold first.

Work as an integral part of the Management Team to improve the cost effectiveness of the whole depot operation.

Work within a rota with colleagues to ensure adequate supervision is available to cover all open hours of the Company.

Security responsibilities to include opening, closing, necessary overtime and overnight call-outs.

To ensure all procedures relating to the handling of drugs, particularly controlled drugs and temperature controlled drugs are strictly adhered to.

To assist in monthly walk test of security equipment.

To ensure a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times.

The successful candidate:

We would like to speak with candidates who have previous and relevant experience in either a warehouse management role, or supervisory role where you’re ready for the next step. Any experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be advantageous but not essential. You will have strong people management experience as well as experience in running both a warehouse and the transport side. This is a hands-on role that requires the Warehouse Manager to lead by example and demonstrate a work ethic that puts the customer first at all times.  Full systems training will be provided. A full UK driving licence is required.
