New funding set to supercharge Rotherham’s businesses and talent

If you know our team at Glu, you’ll know we’re passionate about championing Rotherham. Our MD, Rob Shaw, is Rotherham born and bred, and those local roots have played a huge part in shaping Glu Recruit into the business it is today.

That’s why we’re delighted to hear that Rotherham is set to receive almost £3 million in funding to support local businesses, boost skills, and create more opportunities for residents to access meaningful work.

Over the past year, we’ve already seen exciting developments and fresh ideas take shape across the borough – from Forge Island and Launchpad to Rotherham being named the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture. It’s clear the town is building real momentum.

So, what will this new funding support?

  • £650,000 will go towards Shop Unit Grants
  • Nearly £950,000 will help support start-ups, improve productivity, and encourage greener practices
  • £440,000 will focus on helping residents gain work-ready skills
  • £300,000 will be dedicated to developing future talent
  • Just under £425,000 will support festivals, civic events, and town centre activities

Rob said, “Investing in our local people and businesses isn’t just about money – it’s about creating real opportunity. Rotherham is full of talent, ambition and potential, and initiatives like these give people the tools, confidence and support to thrive right here in our hometown.”

We’re incredibly proud to champion Rotherham and the people who make it such a vibrant place to live and work. This funding represents a brilliant step forward for the borough, and we’re genuinely excited to see the opportunities, growth and success it will unlock across our community.
