We’re super proud to announce that our very own Rob Shaw has been appointed as a Director on the Rotherham Growth Board, not long after joining the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber board of directors.
Rob is Rotherham-born and bred and loves to champion people in our town and contribute to making Rotherham the best place to visit, live, and do business.
For those of you who don’t know, the Rotherham Growth Board plays a vital role in shaping the town’s economic future.
It was established to drive forward Rotherham’s economic efforts, bringing together leaders from across the private and public sectors.
The board focuses on everything from business development and employment to upskilling and town regeneration.
By working collaboratively with local partners and linking into wider regional strategies such as the Sheffield City Region, the board helps ensure that Rotherham remains a place where businesses can thrive, and communities can benefit from sustainable growth.
A role focused on bettering Rotherham
As a Director, Rob will join a collective of business leaders tasked with providing strategic direction, championing local businesses, and ensuring that growth opportunities are accessible across Rotherham.
For Rob, the appointment is both professional and deeply personal. A proud Rotherham native who founded Glu Recruit in 2016, his journey has always been rooted in supporting local businesses and people.
His role on the board will centre around:
- Championing local business growth and collaboration
- Supporting initiatives that create jobs and develop skills
- Helping shape a stronger, more connected local economy
- Ensuring Rotherham continues to be an attractive place to invest and work
With two decades of experience in recruitment and a strong track record of building relationships across the region, Rob has his ear to the ground and brings valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing businesses today.
Continuing Glu Recruit’s commitment to the region
Rob joining the board reflects our wider mission as a business – to support growth across the Sheffield City Region.
We strive for a people-first approach and relationship-driven recruitment, so this feels like a positive step to further support our candidates and employers in the region.
Speaking about his appointment, Rob said: “I’m incredibly proud to be joining the Rotherham Growth Board as Director. Rotherham has always been my home and it’s a place I love and see so much potential for.
“This role is a fantastic opportunity to give something back – supporting local businesses, creating opportunities for people, and helping to shape a stronger future for the town.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside other business leaders to drive real, positive change.”
