You may have already seen that Glu have teamed up with the incredible team at The Work Wise Foundation.
Together, we’re working to help people bridge the gap between school or training and landing their dream role.
What is the Work Wise Foundation?
The Work Wise Foundation is an amazing organisation dedicated to helping people get work-ready.
They focus on giving individuals – especially students and young job seekers – the skills, confidence, and insights they need to step into the world of work.
Through workshops, events, and mentorship programs, they connect people with employers and real-world opportunities.
It’s all about breaking down barriers and giving everyone a fair shot at building a successful career.
Why are we partnered with them?
Simple: their mission is right up our street. We’re passionate about helping people succeed, especially in industries like STEM and the industrial sector, where skilled workers are in high demand.
By working with The Work Wise Foundation, we’re playing our part in closing the gap between education and employment – and we’re loving every minute of it!
Getting stuck in
Over the past year, we’ve rolled up our sleeves and joined in on some fantastic Work Wise events. One standout moment was their STEM event at Magna in Rotherham, where we volunteered.
Get up to Speed with STEM is a live, annual, one-day showcase event which aims to introduce, inform and inspire students, parents and teachers about the world of work in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) sectors.
For over ten years, this event has promoted STEM-related career opportunities to over 34,000 young people, educators and families from across the Sheffield City Region and beyond – and it was a privilege to be a part of it.
More recently, we volunteered at their North Star event, another brilliant day where young people got to explore career opportunities in science.
We even got to see Professor Brian Cox deliver an incredible talk – what a moment! Watching kids light up with excitement about science was truly rewarding.
It’s not just about young people though, The Work Wise Foundation support individuals that are actively looking to get back into work.
Jack Crookes, one of our Senior Recruitment Consultants, is actively involved in a program designed for job seekers in the industrial sector.
Jack delivers presentations to help candidates feel more confident, craft standout applications, and understand what employers are looking for. It’s all about giving them the tools to succeed.
Looking ahead
Working with The Work Wise Foundation has been such a rewarding experience. Their mission matches ours perfectly, and together, we’re helping people take those all-important first steps into the working world.
Next year, the highly anticipated Skills Street will open its doors to young people, and the team at Glu can’t wait to get involved.
