Wellness at work with Glu Recruit

August is National Wellness Month, a month dedicated to prioritising your health and well-being.

There are a number of different things that can increase our stress and the risk of burnout, and in our experience, work is pretty high on the list.

To shine a light on National Wellness Month, we’re launching a wellness at work campaign that will shed light on the significance of workplace wellness and will provide actionable strategies for fostering a healthier work environment.

The impact of work on mental health

Here are some stand out statistics we’ve found in the past year alone:
• 1 in 5 British workers have taken time off due to poor mental health caused by work-related pressure or stress.
• Burnout has surged by 48% since 2022, indicating a troubling upward trend.
• A staggering 91% of adults reported experiencing high or extreme levels of stress within the past year.
• 4 in 10 British workers** experienced stress from taking on additional work due to the cost of living crisis.
• 1 in 10 UK adults feel that their boss contributes to their stress at work.
• 55% of UK workers who faced job-related stress also experienced anxiety.
• 35% of British workers do not feel comfortable disclosing their stress levels to their managers.
• 1 in 10 people are contemplating leaving their job due to workplace stress.
