Glu Recruit shortlisted for ‘Most Promising New Business’ at Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber awards

We’re proud as punch to be shortlisted for a Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Business Award in the ‘Most Promising New Business’ category.

Having operated for more than a decade in the industry, Rob Shaw (MD) launched his own consultancy having spotted a gap in the market for a ‘tailored approach’ to recruitment – moving away from the ‘numbers-game’ tactics typically favoured. He wanted to break the mould, so set about delivering a personal, people-first package which has proved very popular to date. Click this 44 usfinancer

Rob said: “There are many recruitment agencies in the region, and whilst many do a good job I couldn’t help but feel that there was a gap in the market for a more down to earth and personal approach to the process which was based on ‘fit’, finding the right candidate for the right role – looking not only at skill set, but also personality, ambition, life/work balance preferences etc.

“Glu’s ethos is aligned to bridge this gap, and whilst starting from scratch in a competitive market was not easy we have successfully developed a very strong relationship not only with our clients, who use us time and time again as roles materialise, but also for the candidates we represent.

“In essence, we become an integral part of many businesses growth and expansion plans, and a part of many employees career path.”

Since the company was established in the summer of 2016 Glu has helped more than 100 businesses across South Yorkshire and the Midlands to reach their growth aspirations, and has placed over 220 candidates in their perfect roles.

The Glu team has also grown; launching as a start-up headed by Rob, it has now welcomed full-time staff members Lisa Brunt, a Recruitment Coordinator, and Administrator Charlotte Pike, with plans to double headcount again by the end of the year.

Rob said: “Each business Glu works with is given a tailored approach based on their specific requirements and goals, whilst each candidate is only offered interviews for suitable job opportunities. It sounds simple, but it requires a degree of understanding with regards to what each party wants, and needs, from each other.

“With that in mind, what makes Glu an exceptional new business is our commitment to helping businesses achieve their growth aspirations, while championing their position as a pillar of the local business community.

“Our approach has ultimately bolstered the growth and success of the businesses we work with, enabling us to amass a loyal and dedicated client base, who have been vocal about our unique approach to recruitment.

Rob concludes: “In addition to our client facing work, Glu is also on a mission to become a socially responsible business. We recently hosted a networking event in Sheffield’s Kelham Island, which was attended by almost 100 business professionals from South Yorkshire, and raised more than £1000 for adoption charity Action For Children. This has given us an appetite to do more events like this to help raise money for this fantastic cause!”

Whatever the outcome on the evening we’re thrilled to be finalists alognside so many esteemed members of the local business community. It is a real honour.
