2019 – a year in Glu Recruit!

As we come to the end of another year, it’s time for our yearly round up of all things Glu Recruit!

What made 2019 great?

2019 has been a momentous year for Glu: we have expanded our team, developed our Temps division, held more events and have generally been busy recruiting across a wide variety of sectors, job roles and regions!

Focusing on the serious stuff first, we’ve introduced some new methods of recruiting with some of our clients including assessment days.

This breaks the mould of the traditional recruitment method of shortlisting, interviewing and offering the job. Assessment days give our clients an opportunity to hold a more informal recruitment event with a number of candidates we have shortlisted. The informal and more fun nature of these sessions help our clients identify how well candidates react to specific situations, how well they pull together as a team and who has the right skills to enable them to become a long term stick for the company.

We always want to challenge the norm here at Glu, and our aim is to break the mould of the traditional recruitment business and offer a personal, tailored and long term solution, and our assessment days certainly provide a fresh approach to stereotypical recruitment methods.

Our wonderful charity

We are very focused on our corporate social responsibility at Glu, and each year we choose a new charity of the year to support, kicking off with our birthday bash in the summer.

This year we chose Routes Hair Loss Solutions as our charity, and have raised £2,000 to date for Routes from our birthday quiz and ‘Wear a wig to work day’.

Our WAWTW day involved us donning our cycling gear (and wigs) to cycle 100 miles between the team, and it’s safe to say we smashed it!

Progress

2019 has certainly been a year of progress for Glu as a business as well. As well as permanent recruitment, we’ve been able to focus more of our efforts on our Temporary Recruitment desk, with us promoting from within to allow a member of staff to focus solely on recruiting Temporary workers for our clients.

To add to this, we have added more permanent members of staff in 2019 to give the team a great balance across all of our disciplines.

We’ve also been on the award hunt, and were proud to be a finalist at the Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Awards for the Excellence in Customer Services category.

Awards

As we love awards ceremonies so much, in late 2018 we decided to set up our own – The Glu Recruit Office Heroes Awards. The 2019 awards were even bigger and better than 2018, with a record number of nominations from local businesses. We recruited a panel of local business people to review the applications, which resulted in the very difficult decision of shortlisting the final 10 nominees. With so many first class finalists, we were proud to announce Matthew Sheridan of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice as this year’s overall winner.

You can check out the awards here in more detail (don’t forget to watch our video!)

We can’t wait to take the 2020 event to the next level!

Our 2019 stats

No yearly round up would be complete without some stats! Here are some stats we’re proud of in 2019:

  • 251 candidates placed in their dream job
  • 218 client partnerships
  • 92% of vacancies have been taken to placement
  • 2 interviews arranged per placement
  • 48 hours – average CV turnaround from instruction
  • 4 days – average time from instruction to placement
  • 97% candidate retention
  • 100% client satisfaction!

What’s on its way in 2020?

We’ve been nominated for more awards ourselves in 2020 at the Yorkshire Choice Awards taking place in March 2020. We’re in the running for Business Man of the Year (Rob Shaw), Customer Service and Independent Business of the Year awards. The public vote is now open and you can vote for us here!

We also have some exciting news to announce in early January, but we are going to leave you hanging on this one until the New Year (we promise it is worth waiting for!)

A key part of our mission is to help improve our clients employee retention, and we will be holding seminars with some of our key business partners on this, and a range of other subjects, all designed to help you get the most out of your staff in 2020.

Keep an eye out on our website, social media and e-shots for more information!
