Role: Account Director

Salary: £45,000 basic + uncapped commission

Located: Sheffield

Hours: Monday to Friday

The role:

The Account Director is responsible for managing and growing strategic customer relationships, driving sales performance, and ensuring exceptional client satisfaction. This role combines proactive account leadership, sales development, operational coordination, and strategic insight to deliver measurable business results across allocated accounts and new business opportunities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for allocated accounts, responding promptly to customer emails, calls, and messages
  • Provide timely updates on orders, deliveries, and ongoing projects
  • Manage customer concerns, complaints, or issues and coordinate effective resolutions
  • Build long-term relationships through regular, meaningful contact and proactive account engagement
  • Gather, analyse, and act on customer feedback to continuously improve satisfaction and retention
  • Prepare and deliver quotes & proposals
  • Identify and execute upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts
  • Achieve agreed targets across allocated accounts and new business
  • Develop new sales opportunities with both existing and prospective customers
  • Maintain and actively manage the sales pipeline within the ERP/CRM system
  • Lead and participate in sales initiatives, customer events, and promotional activities to drive engagement
  • Follow up consistently on enquiries, quotations, and opportunities in line with the sales process
  • Proactively visit key customers to strengthen partnerships and uncover growth opportunities
  • Maintain accurate customer records, contact details, and communication logs in CRM
  • Produce weekly sales forecasts and conduct regular account performance reviews
  • Manage incoming sales enquiries, calls, and shared inboxes as required
  • Complete quarterly strategic reviews for each account, highlighting progress and action plans
  • Attend sales meetings and forecast reviews fully prepared with performance insights and explanations
  • Maintain up-to-date industry, product, and technical knowledge through continuous training
  • Gather market and customer insights to inform product, service, and commercial improvements
  • Contribute to strategic account planning and long-term growth initiatives
  • Support marketing campaigns, customer events, and engagement programmes

The successful candidate:

  • Industry experience or a similar role in a transferrable industry is required
  • A willingness to learn
  • Have energy and drive
  • Work well within a team as well as on own initiative
  • A flexible “can do” attitude
